As a well-regarded elementary school music educator in the Arlington Public School System, Mr. Carr has always loved creating the opportunity for school-aged children to excel in choral music. He believes anyone can sing, and is known for his many contributions to music education in the elementary school setting, where he combines musical and artistic skills to enable beginning as well as experienced singers to express themselves through music.
As a conductor, he has prepared choruses for numerous performances. His groups have been guests at the White House, The National Gallery of Art, and the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. They have entertained audiences at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel, The Greenbrier Resort and various national conferences. The Children’ s Chorus has been featured on WTOP radio, News Channel 8, and Fox 5 News in Washington, D.C. Mr. Carr and his elementary chorus are also featured in the Reuters International Video “ Music and the Brain.”
Prior to forming the Arlington Children’ s Chorus, Mr. Carr was the founding director of The Alexandria Choral Society Children’ s Chorus and completed ten years of service with that organization. He is beloved by his choristers and parents alike.
