The Arlington Children’s Chorus (ACC) was founded in May 2010 under the capable direction of Kevin Carr, an experienced music teacher of children in Arlington and director of children’s choruses for over a decade.
The Arlington Children’s Chorus a duly registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing enriching choral music instruction to children in grades 2 through 12 living in Arlington, Alexandria, and other communities throughout the DC Metro area.
Our mission is to support public awareness of and excellence in the choral arts by:
- Presenting choral performances of distinction;
- Fostering the musical growth of our members;
- Contributing to the increased knowledge and appreciation of choral music in Arlington, Virginia, and in surrounding communities; and
- Encouraging the public to view the inclusion of a high quality musical experience as an essential element of a comprehensive arts education.
Mr. Carr rehearses weekly in Arlington with children from 2nd (unless recommended by a music teacher) through 12th grades from September through early June. These children come to the chorus with many gifts, voice types, musical experiences, and personalities.
The program provides much more than an education in musicianship; it incorporates lessons in math, foreign language, and literature, as well as develops invaluable skills in discipline, poise, and teamwork.
