ACC Choristers Shine at Holiday 2017 Concert!

The Arlington Children’s Chorus wrapped up its fall 2017 season with a free concert on Sunday, Dec. 17, at Arlington Forest United Methodist Church.

ACC_2017WinterConcertFlier 10-23-17 FINALSome 150 family members, friends, and community members gathered to listen to the children sing songs ranging from “Button Up Your Overcoat” to “Jingle Bells.”

With their voices carrying the joys of the holiday season to each person in the audience, the concert provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase the hard work and dedication of our choristers – and the staff, families, and volunteers who support the ACC throughout the year.

The bake sale was a resounding success and we’d like to thank the many families who donated treats, as well as the following vendors, whose support year after year is greatly appreciated: Baguette Republic, Bread & Water Company, Great Harvest Bread Co., Jerusalem Restaurant, Livin’ the Pie Life, Village Sweet, and The Fresh Market. Please support these generous local businesses whenever possible and take a few seconds to thank them for their ongoing support for the ACC!

Thanks, also, to those families who contributed to our holiday food drive. The ACC collected several bags of non-perishable food, which were donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center, better known as AFAC, and will be distributed to individuals and families throughout our community who are in need.

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy holiday season! See you next year!

“I had the pleasure of conducting the Arlington Children’s Chorus at the Kennedy Center in conjunction with our recent Nutcracker performances,” said Ramona Pansegrau, Music Director of the Kansas City Ballet.

“The children sounded lovely, adding a magical ambiance to the Snow Scene.  They were extremely well-prepared and mannered.  A delight all around,” she said.

Congratulations to our singers and the ACC team, led by Artistic Director Kevin Carr, and many thanks to our ACC families for everything you did behind the scenes to make this year’s performances run so smoothly!

The Arlington Children’s Chorus is thrilled to be back at the John F. Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts from Wednesday, November 22 through Sunday, November 26, kicking off the 2017 holiday season in the Kansas City Ballet’s D.C. premiere of The Nutcracker.

This year, the inventive choreography of Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director Devon Carney, elegant set design of Alain Vaes, and glorious costumes of Holly Hynes create a dynamic fusion with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky‘s timeless score.

Our choristers will join the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra in the pit, lending their voices to the “glistening Snow Scene,” while “dozens of local children will take the stage, this year portraying adorable bunnies, lambs, dolls, soldiers, and angels.”

This year’s production contains plenty of surprises, including a toy bear that comes to life, a grandfather with hip hop moves, and a line of giant Matryoshka – Russian nesting dolls.

We hope you’ll come see the show. With both matinee (1:30 p.m.) and evening (7:30 p.m.) performances this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, there are plenty of opportunities to start your holiday season off with some extra-special magic! Click here to purchase tickets.
